Mark Gonyea

Mark has been working with computers and networks since 1996, and has been in the security arena since 2001 when he joined the Army Reserve's Information Operations Command (ARIOC) as a CIRT Team/Pen Tester/Vulnerability Analysis team member. He is currently a Captain and one the command's Team Leaders. In this position he has worked on Joint Task Force missions with the National Security Agency, the Army's Regional Computer Emergency Response Team-Conus. Mark attended forensic training at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh and was the ARIOC's primary instructor for Forensics and Incident Response.

Additionally, Mark is a full time Computer Forensic examiner for the FBI where he performs exams on all digital media in all manner of cases from Cyber crime DDoS, to homicide and has even done a shoplifting case. He presents and teaches classes to Law enforcement officers on seizing computers and computer evidence, as well as provides demonstrations on hacker/hacking methodologies so that Agents and Detectives understand and recognize cyber crime.

Mark has a Master's degree in Information Assurance from Norwich University and currently holds the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), SANS GIAC GCIA (Intrusion Analyst), GCIH (Incident Handler), and GCFA (Forensic Analyst), Certified Computer Examiner (CCE). He also has a bucket load of additional certifications that he collects as a hobby including C|EH (Certified Ethical Hacker), CompTia's Sec+, Linux+, A+, Net+, CCNA and the CERT-Certified Information Assurance Practitioner (CCIAP) from Carnegie Mellon University CERT. He is currently work on SANS GIAC GCFW (Firewall Analyst) as his next certification goal.
