Speaker Bios

Barbara Filkins

Barbara Filkins, a senior SANS analyst who holds the CISSP and SANS GSEC (Gold), GCIH (Gold), GSLC (Gold), GCCC (Gold), GCPM (Silver), GLEG (Gold) and GSNA (Silver) certifications, has done extensive work in system procurement, vendor selection and vendor negotiations as a systems engineering and infrastructure design consultant. She is deeply involved with HIPAA security issues in the health and human services industry, with clients ranging from federal agencies (Department of Defense and Department of Veterans Affairs) to municipalities and commercial businesses. Barbara focuses on issues related to automation--privacy, identity theft and exposure to fraud, as well as the legal aspects of enforcing information security in today's mobile and cloud environments.

John Pescatore

John Pescatore joined SANS as director of emerging security trends in January 2013 after more than 13 years as lead security analyst for Gartner, 11 years with GTE, and service with both the National Security Agency, where he designed secure voice systems, and the U.S. Secret Service, where he developed secure communications and voice systems "and the occasional ballistic armor installation." John has testified before Congress about cyber security, was named one of the 15 most-influential people in security in 2008 and remains an NSA-certified cryptologic engineer.

Matt Bromiley

Matt Bromiley, is a SANS Digital Forensics and Incident Response instructor and a GIAC Advisory Board member. He is also a senior managing consultant at a major incident response and forensic analysis company, bringing together experience in digital forensics, incident response/triage and log analytics. His skills include disk, database, memory and network forensics, as well as network security monitoring. Matt has worked with clients of all types and sizes, from multinational conglomerates to small, regional shops. He is passionate about learning, teaching and working on open source tools.

Ann Sun

Ann Sun is director of product marketing for NETSCOUT'S Packet Flow Switch Business Unit. Her responsibilities include the portfolio of packet flow switches and taps solutions, with a focus on security solutions and partnerships. Prior to joining NETSCOUT, Ann headed marketing for VSS Monitoring, and held several different leadership roles at Cisco. She has been involved in various security solutions--802.1X security when she led marketing in the Wireless Networking Business Unit at Cisco, firewalls in the early days of Cisco's Security Business Unit, and physical security systems.
